I've been designing and developing websites since 1995, when I helped launch the first AMC Theatres website, and designed interactive e-greetings for Hostess. From animating Twinkies and Ding Dongs to building 300-page extranets for GARMIN and SPRINT, I learned an awful lot in the early days of the Internet. Here are the social networking sites that seem to be most widely used by my own network. Face Book Stay Connected with Friends & Colleagues, Have Lots of Fun When I first tried Facebook, I have to admit that I wasn't that impressed. It felt a little like the old Friendster, and I just didn't see what all the fuss was about. After further use, and prompting more friends to join, it's quite addictive and is a nice way to "see" and keep in touch with friends across the world. As for Twitter, I'm still evaluating how useful that is, but I think we're going to hear a lot more about it as momentum picks up. Linked In - Professional/Career I was amazed at the positive response I had with my LinkedIn invitations. From the 150 invites I sent to friends, colleagues and clients, almost 50 responded within 72 hours, and a total of 92 contacts have now been added. LinkedIn has helped me reconnect with old colleagues and mentors.
